Quakers from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas met in annual sessions April 13-20, 2025 and approved a Minute which enumerates ways in which Trump administration policies are in conflict with Friends' testimonies. 2023.09.02. Friends Meeting of Austin minutes our support for Transgender and Gender Diverse Individuals. Friends Meeting of Austin minutes our commitment to be an affirming, safe, and nurturing place for everyone to live fully that which Spirit is leading them to be. We affirm the rights of all individuals to bodily autonomy, and respect the gender identity of each person, as that person determines it. With glad hearts we acknowledge and affirm the transgender and gender diverse Friends in our community.

Joining with “Apartheid-Free Communities:” Friends Meeting of Austin (FMA) joins American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Live Oak Friends Meeting (Houston), South Central Yearly Meeting (SCYM) and others in the “Apartheid-Free Communities” campaign. FMA responds to AFSC’s call to join in and declare ourselves “Apartheid-Free”. As such:

Friends Meeting of Austin holds that the death penalty is ethically and morally wrong and contrary to our core belief that there is “that of God" in each of us. We call for the immediate abolition of the death penalty on both state and federal levels.

With deep sadness we must announce the passing of Sally Merill. Sally has been a Friend since the 1970's and attended our meeting online with great regularity along with her companion Volker Imschweiler. Sally dedicated her life to the preservation of the wilderness and wildlife, most recently focused on the Rio Grande Valley where she and Volker lived. We hold Volker and all of Sally's family and many friends in the Light.
